Golden Girls’ VA Dare Cruise
The Golden Girls have planned a Virginia Dare Cruise at Smith Mountain Lake on Saturday, June 13th. The cruise is from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. For those individuals who register for this event, please plan to leave the Ministry Center parking lot at 10:30 am.
Communion Sunday
On Sunday, June 14th, the Lord’s Supper will be observed during both the 9:30 am and 11:00 am worship services.
Deeply Rooted Infertility & Loss Ministry Gathering
Join us for a special afternoon of connection, support, and community at Holliday Lake on Sunday, June 14th at 3:30 pm. Families walking through infertility or pregnancy loss are invited to gather with us for a cookout and time together in a safe, supportive space. This will be an opportunity to connect with others who understand, share encouragement, and simply spend time together this summer. We hope you’ll join us for fellowship, food, and meaningful community. Meat will be provided, just bring your favorite side dish to share! KidServe Party
All kids ages 4-years through 5th grade are invited to our final KidServe night of the ministry year, including games, crafts, and food (of course), starting at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, June 17th!
Trail Life Father’s Day Basecamp Day & Campout
On Friday and Saturday, June 19th–20th, the Adventurers and Navigators will gather for an overnight campout at Basecamp. On Saturday, June 20th, the Woodlands will participate in a daytime Basecamp event (not overnight).
Church Clean Out Day
Join us Saturday, June 20th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm for the purpose of cleaning out closets and straightening up areas.
Hispanic Church – Celebrate Fathers’ Day
NUEVA VISIÓN (Liberty Baptist Church's Hispanic Ministry) will have worship time and fellowship after the Spanish service on June 21st in the Fellowship Hall. They will provide brunch. This is an opportunity to invite Hispanics we know, employees, or friends in Appomattox and surrounding areas.
Youth Summer Camp
The youth group is returning to Camp Eagle this summer! This is taking place June 22-26 in Fincastle, Virginia near Roanoke. This is a Bible-believing camp that offers the blob, climbing tower, basketball courts, sports fields, zip-line, Tarzan swing, archery and BB-gun ranges, hayrides, bonfires, and night games! The camp also offers excursions (additional charges) to include horsemanship, paintball, tube the James River, and laser tag. The church is offsetting some of the cost to help your family. Registration for one student is $270. Please register your child by April 30. Payment is due in full before leaving for camp.

Red Cross Blood Mobile

Mom Life Meet Up at the Farmville Splash Pad
All moms and school-aged children are invited for a fun afternoon of splashing at the Farmville Splash Pad! Pack a picnic lunch, bring your children, bathing suits, and towels to enjoy time together with other moms and children! Meet at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 25th, and stay as long as you like. On Saturday, June 27th, from 1:00–4:00 pm, the Woodlands will have a fun afternoon of water activities.
LBC Kids Snowballs and Snow Cones
We are halfway to Christmas, so pull out your Santa hat or reindeer antlers, your favorite Christmas shirt, and bring the whole family for a summer snowball fight-indoors! On June 28 at 6pm, we will deck out the Ministry Center in lights and decorations and turn up the volume on your favorite Christmas songs! When the snowballs stop flying, grab a snow cone and gather around the Christmas tree as we unwrap and give away some fun prizes and read about the greatest Gift the world has ever received!
America's 250th in Appomattox
Appomattox County invites everyone to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a spectacular event on Friday, July 3rd from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm at Appomattox County High School, featuring a breathtaking 300-drone light show that will paint the sky with patriotic imagery including waving American flags, soaring eagles, and the stars and stripes in stunning aerial choreography, followed by a dazzling fireworks display that will light up the night in a brilliant tribute to our nation’s enduring spirit of freedom and unity.
Families and visitors can enjoy a moving patriotic program filled with live music, inspiring readings from America’s founding documents, and heartfelt tributes to veterans and first responders, while exploring a fire truck display and enjoying a car show. Delicious food trucks will be on site offering a variety of tasty options for everyone to enjoy throughout the evening. This special night in historic Appomattox, the very place where the Civil War ended in 1865, serves as a powerful reminder of America’s journey from division to unity as we honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Bring your lawn chairs, American flags, and the whole family to experience an unforgettable evening of lights and patriotism under the summer sky as we proudly celebrate our shared heritage and the continuing story of the greatest nation on earth.

Ladies are invited for a lake day at the Moon's Lakehouse on Buggs Island on Saturday, July 25th. Enjoy the lake, lunch, swimming, boat rides, and fellowship! Back-To-School Event
On Saturday, August 1st starting at 9:00 am, the Back-To-School Event will be held in the Ministry Center. This is a wonderful opportunity for the members of Liberty Baptist Church to come together to provide school supplies to Appomattox County families in need. There are opportunities for purchasing supplies, donating funds, packing boxes, and helping with the distribution of supplies. We provide a complete set of school-determined supplies for Appomattox students from kindergarten through the 8th grade who preregister. LBC Kids Back-to-School Bash
On Sunday, August 9th starting at 3:00 pm, LBC Kids will bid a fond farewell to summer with one final party! Kids should be prepared to get wet, and parents will be able to register for the upcoming Cherub Choir, KidSing, and Awana year! This event is free and open to ALL families in the community, so invite your friends!
Congregational Meeting
There will be a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, August 9th at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary. The Financial Report will be given, as well as reports from the Elders, Stewardship Committee, etc. This meeting is to inform the church about matters of church business, along with giving an opportunity to submit approval/disapproval cards on subjects that require congregational approval.

Fall is right around the corner and with that comes new Bible studies and groups. If you have a study that you would like to start in the fall, please submit your information to the church office by Monday, August 10th.
Youth Pool Party
Get ready for an evening of fun in the sun (and water)! The O’Brien family is hosting a pool party for the youth group on Friday, August 14th. Come hang out, swim, and enjoy a great night together! Worship Arts Collective (WAC) Kickoff!
WAC is Back! 6th-12th grade students are invited to join us on Sunday, August 16th, at 5:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall as we kick off a brand-new season of WAC! Sunday Night Kids Kickoff
Sunday Night Kids is BACK!! We kick off a brand-new year of ministry on Sunday night, August 16th, beginning at 5:00 pm with Cherub Choir and KidSing, followed by Awana at 6:00. Each Sunday night will be filled with exciting music, engaging Bible teaching, small group discipleship and Scripture memory, and high-energy games. Cherub Choir and KidSing are open to kids ages 4-years through 5th grade, and Awana is open to kids ages 2-years through 5th grade. Children Nutrition Ministry Kick-off Meeting
The Children's Nutrition Ministry will have a Kick-off Meeting on Monday, August 17th at 7:00 pm in the Old Fellowship Hall. There are weekly volunteer needs throughout the school year, as well as a need for financial support. If you are willing to volunteer, please plan to attend this meeting on August 17th at 7:00 pm. Centra Mammography Van
As a service to our community, the mammography van is coming to LBC on Tuesday, August 19th from 7:30 am until 2:20 pm. They will be performing screenings for eligible women ages 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months. The Goodyears (ages 55+) are in the process of planning their meeting that will be held on August 19th at noon in the church Fellowship Hall. Please be sure to follow the church announcements for final details and sign-up information.
KidServe Kickoff
KidServe will start on Wednesday, August 19th, at 6:30 pm in the upstairs children’s area. This is an opportunity for kids ages 4-years through 5th grade to use their gifts to serve our church and community. This ministry will meet twice a month on the first and third Wednesday and will include games, music, crafts, a missions lesson, and a service project.
Trail Life Major Service Project
From August 21st through August 23rd, the Adventurers will participate in a major service project. This will be a great opportunity to serve the community.
Trail Life Museum of the Bible Trip
On Saturday, August 22nd, the Navigators will take a day trip to the Museum of the Bible to explore history and exhibits.
Hispanic Church 7th Anniversary Celebration
Come celebrate NUEVA VISIÓN’s (Liberty Baptist Church's Hispanic Ministry) 7th anniversary. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and brunch in the Fellowship Hall. As a Spanish Ministry, their desire is that every person follows Christ, shares Christ, and glorifies Christ. They are a church that grows, loves, serves, and transforms Appomattox and its surrounding communities; a church where everyone is an essential part of “the Great Commission.”

WMU Yard Sale
WMU will have a yard sale on Saturday, September 12th from 7:00 am to noon, with all proceeds going to Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong offerings. The set-up will start on Thursday, September 10th at 1:00 pm, and take place all day on Friday, September 111th starting at 9:00 am. If you have items to donate, please bring them to the church on Friday. For any items you may need picked up, please contact Linda Moon (434-665-6270) and she will arrange the pickup. Volunteers are needed to help with the set-up and clean-up, as well as on the day of the sale. If you would like to volunteer, or if you have any questions, please contact Linda Moon.
Men's Retreat
The Men’s Ministry of Liberty Baptist Church is planning a Men’s Retreat at the James River State Park on Friday, September 25 – Saturday, September 26. The event will begin with dinner on Friday evening and end mid-afternoon on Saturday. This retreat has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with other men from Liberty while we grow in the Lord. Our speaker this year is Wilson Caldwell, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Suffolk, Virginia. Cliff Lambert our Worship Pastor will also be leading us once again in praise and worship. Vacation Bible School - Illumination Station
Join us at Illumination Station VBS for the brightest week of the year! It’s taking place May 31 - June 4 from 6pm - 8pm.
At Illumination Station VBS, kids will be challenged to answer Jesus’ important question to His disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Some might see Jesus as just a person from history, a good man, or a wise teacher but He is much more than that. As we explore all the ways light brightens, illuminates, reflects, and reveals, kids will discover that Jesus is the light who brings hope to a dark world.
Illumination Station VBS is open to all kids 3-years-old through completed 5th grade! Each night begins and ends with an awesome worship rally, where we will review the Bible content and music from the day! Kids will also love our engaging Bible lessons, exciting music, cool crafts, and high-energy games! Register now, by clicking through the event registration.
If you are interested in serving on the Illumination Station VBS Team, select "VBS Team Member." All adults must have completed an LBC Kids application in order to serve in VBS. Students under the age of 16 are allowed to serve with a parent who has completed the LBC Kids application. VBS Team members will receive an Illumination Station t-shirt AND dinner is available for Team members and their family each night of VBS!

Backpacks with rocks are required, as well as water and spare socks. All boys of this age group are welcome to come. Dads, you can jump in as well, but make sure you pack rocks. On Wednesday, May 20th at noon in the Fellowship Hall, the Goodyears are planning their monthly meeting. A covered dish meal will be provided. Please be sure to monitor the Proclaimer for final details and sign-up information.
Youth Worship Arts Collective Variety Show
Join the youth Worship Arts Collective (WAC) on Sunday, May 17th at 7pm in the Ministry Center for an uplifting evening of creativity and inspiration at our first ever WAC Variety Show! Graduation Sunday
On Sunday, May 17th we will recognize all the 2026 graduates of both high school and college. Each family needs to submit a graduate information sheet, along with 10 of your favorite photos from childhood through graduation. All information needs to be submitted to the church office by Wednesday, May 6th. Please be sure to join us to salute all our graduates.
Trail Life James River Canoe/YAK Float
The Adventures unit (9th through 12th grade) of Troop VA-1709 are taking an exciting float down the James River for a 5-hour float. Life jackets are required. We will be stopping along the way and cooking a meal on the river as part of the Outdoor Life Badge. All boys of this age group are welcome to come. Dads, you can jump in on the fun as well. Trail Life Fire Ranger Competition
The Navigators unit (6th through 8th grade) of Troop VA-1709 will take what they have learned in fire safety, fire materials, and fire building and design a Fire Ranger Competition Course. Then they will compete on that course. In addition, we will be camping overnight and walking through a manhood journey devotional as part of the Worthy Life Award. On Sunday, May 3rd at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary, our Awana year will conclude with a celebration of the thousands of Scripture verses memorized by over 100 kids. Following the awards will be the Awana Carnival at 6:00 pm in the Ministry Center. Participating kids and their families will enjoy games, prizes, and bounce houses.

Sojourners Trip to the D-Day Memorial
Join the Sojourners (ages 45-65) for a trip to the D-Day Memorial on Saturday, April 25th. Meet at the Parsonage parking lot at 9:00 am to carpool. The cost is $10 per person. Please register and pay online by Sunday, April 19th.

Strike up some fun at our Youth Group Bowling Night on Friday, April 24th at AMF in Lynchburg! Bring your friends and get ready for an evening of laughs, friendly competition, and great community both on and off the lanes. Trail Life USA Nation-Wide Campout
The entire Troop VA-1709 will experience an amazing campout at Base Camp with competition games (Laser Tag, Camp Competition, Tug of War, Catapult Sling, and more), lots of food, and worship. This is a nation-wide event celebrating God’s goodness. (Note: Woodlands Unit (age K through 5th Grade) require a guardian for overnight camping.) Dads, come along and enjoy an outing with your son. Trail Life Land Navigation Challenge Course
The Navigators unit (6th through 8th grade) of Troop VA-1709 will be challenged in this course as they work their way through the mountains using just a compass and some way points. A US Marine Corp Veteran specializing in land navigation will be teaching this course. This will be an overnight camp in the mountains of Amherst. All boys in this age group are welcome to come. Jen Wilkin Women of the Word Conference
Women are invited to a women's conference with Jen Wilkin staying overnight at Virginia Beach. Ladies will meet at the church to leave at 1:00 pm Friday and return by 7:00 pm on Saturday. Women need to register and pay for the conference and select a hotel. Conference cost is $85 and rooms run $129 and up. Hotel costs can be split with a roommate if desired and arranged. KidSing Spring Musical
Join us Sunday, April 12th at 7:00 pm in the Ministry Center as KidSing presents A Not So Terrible Parable. It was a dark & stormy night… a man lay injured by the side of the road. Two travelers passed him by. Mysteriously, he is delivered to the doorstep of the quaint Mountain Vista Inn, where the startled guests, the butler and the maid (of course!), and the famous detective must use their wits to sleuth out every clue to get to the bottom of this mystifying whodunit. Mystery, candlelight, organ music, and strange pizza toppings all await as we join host Alistair McAlister in this Master’s Peace Theater re-creation of the parable that Jesus told about the Good Samaritan, A Not So Terrible Parable.
New Members Class
A New Members Class is scheduled for Saturday, April 11th starting at 9:00 am in rooms 206/207 for anyone who is interested in becoming a member of Liberty Baptist Church. This class will be a time to ask questions, as well as familiarize yourself with the Church Structure, Communication Chart, By-Laws, Baptist Faith, etc. For anyone interested in attending this class, please register on the church website or call the office (434-352-2336) by Wednesday, April 1st.
